Gauge Matters

This is a swatch knit out of Louet Euroflax Linen yarn.  It is the same stitch count and the same pattern and knit the same size.  One is blocked and one is not (I'll be you can tell which is which).  There are certain yarns that it is imperative to swatch and block to get the right gauge.  This is one of them.  A lesson in gauge.

Ewenice is complaining because this coat is too big.  Won't you make her a new one?

New Patterns are Coming!!!

One of our favorite places to visit is Churchmouse Yarns and Teas in Bainbridge.  I'm sure you have all been there and can agree.  Our customers liked Churchmouse patterns so much, we decided to start carrying their patterns.   Kim is knitting up a sample of this scarf and it will be beautiful to wear at Christmas (or anytime) or give as a gift.

Just wondering if you have started Ewenice's new coat yet?  She needs a new coat to wear through the fall and winter, this one just isn't heavy enough.  If you make a new coat for Ewenice and bring it in to the store, we will take a picture of it and post it on the Blog and then the Bloggers will vote.

The Great American Afghan class starts this Saturday, 8/18 from 10 - 12.  Come join us and make this beautiful 25 square afghan.  The skills you will learn are invaluable and you will come away having made a project you can be proud of.

I just got back from vacation and saw the Knitscene Spring 2012, Special Issue sitting on the table. I don't know if I missed it before I went on vacation or they were late in sending out the publication. Either way - as I was browsing through the magazine I noticed there were two cute patterns made with Cascade Rustic and Malabrigo Sock.  Since these are yarns we carry, I was especially interested in them.  The Cascade Rustic makes a beautiful Cypress Raglan Sweater and the Malabrigo Socks makes some very cute fingerless gloves, called Natalie Mitts.
There is also an article on the Duplicate Stitch, which is a fun way to put decorations, words or accents on your knitting.

I know my last blog I promised Family pictures from Birch Bay, but we didn't take any.  Completely forgot! Here are my two lovelies making faces at their Grandma.....Hmmmm and they think I'm going to be knitting something for them!
