Vogue Spring/Summer 2013

Yarn made in China?  We carry a line called "Lotus Yarns", some of you are already familiar with the mink.  We will be receiving the Cashmere soon.
What does this have to do with Vogue magazine you ask?  Well, there is an article in this issue of Vogue that talks about Lotus yarn and it being made in China.  It's an interesting article.
For those of you who haven't tried the mink yarn yet, well, it's delightful to work with.  I'm making a very basic seed stitch scarf and I am loving the feel of the yarn.  Betts has also been knitting with the mink and is enjoying the feel of the yarn and the way it is knitting up.
If you are doing the Knit-A-Long with us, this would be a perfect yarn for it!
Just a reminder:  The Knit-A-Long starts March 28th from 6:00-7:30 for 4 weeks.  We are knitting the Holden Shawl, which you can find as a free download on Ravelry.

Interweave Knits Spring 2013

This is it!  There are some very cute patterns in this magazine.  I have a couple of favorites, one being Chloe's vest, it is knit with Rowan Wool Cotton 4 ply.  If you haven't knit with this yarn, it's a lovely fingering weight to knit with.  I would normally not knit a dress, but Matins Dress is so cute!  I don't think it would look so good on me, but it would be fun to knit for my daughter.  It is also knit with yarn we carry, Cascade Yarns, Alpaca Lace.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

Continental Knitting

Betts is teaching a class on Continental Knitting on Thursday, February 28th from 6:00-7:30 pm.  In Continental Knitting, the knitter holds the yarn in their left hand which allows the knitter to scoop or "pick" the yarn with the right needle.  This method is useful in Fair Isle Knitting.  If you are ready or are curious about knitting Fair Isle, this is a great introduction into the technique!
